Describing Music with MetaGrammars
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper aims to show metagrammars are not only suited for large grammars development, but can also deal with other types of descriptions. We give the example of musical chords, that can be quite naturally described within the modular scope offered by eXtensible MetaGrammar.

متن کاملDescribing Morphologically-rich Languages using Metagrammars: a Look at Verbs in Ikota
In this paper, we show how the concept of metagrammar originally introduced by Candito (1996) to design large Tree-Adjoining Grammars describing the syntax of French and Italian, can be used to describe the morphology of Ikota, a Bantu language spoken in Gabon. Here, we make use of the expressivity of the XMG (eXtensible MetaGrammar) formalism to describe the morphological variations of verbs i...
متن کاملPerceptual Segment Clustering For Music Description And Time-axis Redundancy Cancellation
Repeating sounds and patterns are widely exploited throughout music. However, although analysis and music information retrieval applications are often concerned with processing speed and music description, they typically discard the benefits of sound redundancy cancellation. We propose a perceptually grounded model for describing music as a sequence of labeled sound segments, for reducing data ...
متن کاملMetagrammars: a new implementation for FTAG
This paper describes work on creating elementary trees for adjective and predicative noun families (Barrier, 2002; Barrier and Barrier, 2003) using Metagrammars, for the FTAG grammar (Abeillé, 1991; Abeillé, 2002). Based on the Candito’s work on Metagrammars (Candito, 1996; Candito, 1999a), it adds a fourth dimension, specially designed for word order specification. 1 The metagrammar compiler M...
متن کاملAutomatically Describing Music on a Map
In this paper, we present a technique to automatically create music maps labeled with semantic descriptors, the so called Music Description Maps (MDM). Based on a Self-organizing Map (SOM) trained on audio features, we create term profiles that characterize the type of music in the various clusters. To this end, we efficiently retrieve musicrelated term descriptors for music artists from theWeb...
